The Kazakhstan government is considering including swimming lessons into the school curriculum, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the Prime Minister’s website. According to Deputy Director of the Emergency Response Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Alexey Sovetov, the campaign on teaching children to swim started in 2012. More than 12 500 children received the training. 200 children camps located near water were taken under special control. “Now we are working on including swimming lessons into the school curriculum together with the Ministry of Education and Science and Agency for Tourism and Sports of Kazakhstan,” Sovetov said.
