Nazarbayev calls for dual education model

Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev called the country's companies to implement a dual education model at the 2nd meeting of Zhas Otan youth wing of Nur Otan party, Tengrinews.kz reports. "After visiting Germany I gave instructions to implement a dual education system. 60 countries are currently using this system. I call all Kazakhstan companies to start working on this in coordination with the government," Nursultan Nazarbayev said. According to the President, the government program shall require "all major companies of Kazakhstan, especially participants of the state industrialization program, should have quotas for education and employment of young people". Nursultan Nazarbayev pointed out that the model had been implemented by KazakhMys, Donskoi Mining and Processing Complex, Pavlodar Electrolytic Plant and Samruk-Kazyna Fund. Training centers had been re-equipped for dual education at Pavlodar Oil Chemicals Plant, KazakhTelecom, KEGOK, KazAtomProm, Aksu Ferro-Alloy Plant and Sairam car manufacturing plant. "With this system students of vocational schools are hired as interns for the company and the company pays them salaries. That doesn't mean they will be employed by this company upon graduation. With the skills acquired they will be able to work in other companies," Kazakhstan President said.
