Tengrinews.kz - Prosecutor General Berik Asylov proposed introducing a new subject, "Law and Order," for Kazakhstani schoolchildren starting in the 7th grade.
"Today we see that some teenagers, unfortunately, commit serious offenses - from fights to more serious crimes. Many of them simply did not know that they were breaking the law. They did not understand that there was responsibility for this.
Legal illiteracy is a real threat. Therefore, we proposed an important initiative to the authorized body - to introduce a mandatory subject, ‘Law and Order,’ in schools starting in the 7th grade. It can be taught by practicing lawyers and veterans of the agencies in order to share not only knowledge, but also life experience," Berik Asylov wrote on his page on the social network X (Twitter).
He explained his proposal by the fact that when a teenager understands the essence of the law, he gains a guide, not fear, discipline, not permissiveness.
"Would it be bad if a teenager could share the knowledge he has acquired not only with his peers, but also with his family and neighbors? We are sure that such classes will help to raise the younger generation - conscious, responsible, respectful of law and order," Asylov assured.
It should be noted that this is not the only proposal to introduce new subjects in Kazakhstan schools in recent days.
