The Minister of Education and Science Aslan Sarinzhipov has criticize poor quality of construction of new schools in Kazakhstan, Tengrinews reports. "More than a half of the 175 new schools constructed in 2011-2013 fell short of the construction standards," Sarinzhipov said during the meeting of the Ministry to summarize results of 2013. According to the Minister, as a result of lack of control during construction, many of the newly commissioned schools require major repairs right after they are commissioned. "For example, Uteshev School in Baidibeksky Region of South Kazakhstan Oblast was commissioned in January 2012. A month later the floor caved in and the heating system broke down. Major repairs had to be made in June the same year. Similar things happened with the School No.36 in Aktas village of Talgar Region of Almaty Oblast that was commissioned in 2012. We have a lot of such cases," the Minister said. Sarinzhipov instructed the Ministry of Education and Science of Kazakhstan to step up control of the quality of construction of eduction venues starting from this year. "We have created a special group that will be monitoring the construction processes together with the local departments. I have requested the regional education administrations to support and aid this group in their task to monitor the construction of venues," he added.
