Three-shift education will be eliminated in Kazakhstan only in 2016, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Kazakhstan Finance Minister Bolat Zhamishev. “The country had 108 schools working in three shifts in 2007. After that 106 schools for 86 thousand students were built as part of the program of construction of 100 schools. 70 of them were constructed to eliminate 3-shift education. Besides, as of October 1, another 30 schools were built at the expense of local budgets. Meanwhile, in relation to the migration processes and demographic growth, the number of 3-shift schools remains high: there are 70 of them. The plan is to build 522 more schools by 2015. The new 3-year budget provides for construction of 61 school focused on elimination of 3-shift education. This way the problem of 3-shift education is going to be solved before January 1, 2016,” Zhamishev said answering the questions of the Parliament deputies during discussion of the draft law On the state budget for 2013-2015. He also noted that 217 schools in Kazakhstan were in bad condition. “In 4 years, including 2011, 74 schools were built to replace the schools in poor condition. Currently, considering that 194 schools are in extremely poor condition and their number keeps growing because of the buildings wearing, the 3-year budget provides for construction of 190 schools out of the total 522 planned to replace the ones in bad condition,” the Minister added.
