A school in Kazakhstan's Kostanay city has launched a pilot project that involves use of electronic text-books in class, Tengrinews.kz reports referring to 24.kz TV Channel. Kostanay Physics and Mathematics Lyceum teachers have developed their own electronic text-books. “At present we have got 42 e-text-books ready to be used for e-learning. There are books cover a whole range of different subjects, such as Physics, Mathematics, the Russian, English and Kazakh Languages,” Tatyana Klimentyeva, Deputy Director for Teaching Methods said. E-learning is available for pupils of the third to eleventh grades. All the classes are equipped with interactive boards and the teachers have laptop computers. Users from 30 countries regularly visit the Lyceum's website. Teachers find it very convenient to communicate with parents via the Internet. On-line messaging, classes’ e-registers and school diaries are available at the website. The parents can check into the academic progress of their children at any time. It is expected that e-learning will be introduced in 13 more schools of Kostanay in the next academic year.
