CIS air defense forces training to be held in Kazakhstan and Russia

A large-scale training of CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) air defense forces will be held in Kazakhstan in Russia in August-September 2011, Interfax-Kazakhstan reports citing Russia's Minister of Defense Anatoliy Serdyukov. “The idea of such training has been approved. It will be held in three stages. Practical training with shooting will be made at two polygons: Sary-Shagan in Kazakhstan and Ashuluk in Russia,” Serdyukov said at the meeting of the Council of CIS Defense Ministers. The meeting covered the prospects of development of joint CIS air defense forces system. The total of 20 issues of military cooperation were discussed at the meeting. “A focus is made on development of military integration. In this relation we defined the main direction for implementation of the concept of military cooperation between CIS countries until 2015,” the Minister said. Serdyukov also talked about historical awareness of the CIS countries and said that it is unacceptable to falsify the history of the World War II and the significance of CIS people in it. The project called We are Successors of the Victory timed to the 70th anniversary of the victory in the World War II will be implemented for this purpose.
