China promises 30 thousand scholarships to SCO countries

China will provide 30 thousand government-sponsored education scholarships to the member-countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Tengrinews.kz reports citing Chinese President Xi Jinping.“To facilitate youth exchanges within the SCO framework, China will in the coming ten years provide 30 thousand government scholarships to SCO member-states and invite 10 thousand teachers and students from Confucius institutes in these countries to China for study tours. I hope you will seize these opportunities to come to China for study and exchange,” Chinese leader said in his speech at Nazarbayev University where he called to boost friendly contacts between the people of Kazakhstan and China.Besides, he invited 200 students and professors of Nazarbayev University to a summer camp in China next year.After Xi Jinping’s speech Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev said that the decision was made on September 7, 2013 to award Chinese President with the title of the honorary professor of Nazarbayev University with all the respecitve rights and privileges.By Renat Tashkinbayev
