Almost 19% of Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools pupils hold awards of different scientific projects, contests and International and National Academic Olympiads held in France, Korea, Russia and Cyprus, Tengrinews.kz reports, referring to the website of the prime-minister of Kazakhstan. 225 schoolchildren from Astana Nazarabayev Intellectual School won the largest number of the awards along with 216 pupils from the Kokshetau School. “Our pupils took part in such International competitions as 2011 Kangaroo - Linguist International Contest Game, Western Chinese Olympiad, Asian Pacific Olympiad, Russian as a Foreign Language International Olympiad, Elements of Science Olympiad, Erudite All-Russian Mathematics Distance Olympiad, II Mathematics in the world of fairy-tales All-Russia Distance Contest,” the press-release reads. "Intellectual school is for talented children who will be fully prepared for future management in Science, Economics and Politics,” President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev said in his State-of-the-Union address. "These schools will be a locomotive for developing the network of secondary education institutions in Kazakhstan. The entire system of Kazakh education should be developed to reach the level of the Nazarbayev University and Intellectual Schools," Bakhytzhan Zhumagulov, Minister for Education and Science, said. The network of Intellectual Schools named after Nazarbayev is an advanced education project in Kazakhstan. It is the President's wish to develop a fundamentally new way of educating the future intellectual elite of the nation. One of the distinctive features of the schools is that they are trilingual with the main subjects being taught in Kazakh, Russian and English.
