Traditional nation-wide campaign One country, one book will kick off in Kazakhstan in September this year. The main point of the campaign is that the whole country reads and discusses the same book, Tengrinews.kz reports, citing Altaynews.kz. This campaign is very popular in many countries and Kazakhstan joined it in 2007. Literary works of Abay Kunanbayev (prominent Kazakh poet and philosopher), Mukhtar Auezov (Kazakh writer and playwright), Moldagaliyev (Kazakh writer), Magzhan Zhumabayev (Kazakh poet) and Zhussipbek Aymautov (Kazakh writer) have been read and discussed already. Oralkhan Bokeyev’s Where are you, my bausond colt? collection of stories will become the book of the year this time. Reading meetings, round-tables, reading marathons, exhibitions, dedicated to the East-Kazakhstan writer’s work and the chosen collection of stories will be held all over Kazakhstan as part of the campaign. School teachers and librarians will introduce the author and his book to schoolchildren. Oralkhan Bokeyev was born on September 28, 1943 in Chingistay village of Katon-Karagay region. The beginning author scored a success with his debut collection of stories Kamchiger in 1970. His books were translated into German, Slovak, Bulgarian, English, Hungarian, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese and CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) languages. Bokeyev is the winner of the Republic of Kazakhstan State Prize, of Kazakhstan Leininite Komsomol Award, Nikolay Ostrovskiy Literature Prize, Molodaya Gvardiya and Zhalyn publishing houses awards. He died in May 1993 during his creative assignment to India.
