The Office of Military Cooperation at the U.S. Embassy in Kazakhstan invites young Kazakhstan men to take part in the contest for education in the U.S. military academies, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the website of the U.S. Embassy to Kazakhstan.

The Class of 2017 will start in summer 2013. The program covers education in U.S. Military Academy at West Point, U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, and U.S. Coast Guard Academy.

The message states that the candidates “must be unmarried, at least 17 years of age and must not have passed their 23rd birthday on July 1, 2013”.

“Academy graduates from Kazakhstan would sign a contract with the Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan to return and serve in the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan for a specified period of time, and would earn a Bachelor of Science degree,” the website writes.

The Embassy also states that foreign students get the same training, pay and allowances as the U.S. citizens and have to follow the same rules and regulations.

The compulsory condition is that all interested candidates successfully pass the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT Reasoning) or the American College Test (ACT). Besides, the applicants have to submit medical certificate proving they don’t have communication diseases.

“All candidates must be registered at their local respective Departments for Defense Matters,” the message states.

The deadline to apply for the Class of 2017 through the Ministry of Defense is December 1, 2012.
