Around 500 militarymen are taking part in elimination of consequences of the natural disaster in Zhambyl oblast, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the press-service of Kazakhstan Defense Ministry. "Over several hours after we received reports of the disaster military vehicles for supply of fuel, food and water and transportation vehicles were dispatched from Taraz for Karatau and Zhanatas to help local residents who had no electricity, heating, gas or water. Multi-purpose armored tracked towers, recovery vehicles, mobile kitchen trailers, fueling vehicles, cross-country trucks, communication vehicles and other special vehicles continue operating in the disaster area," the press-service writes. According to the press-service, the government commission that left for Zhambyl oblast includes first deputy head of the commission of Kazakhstan Defense Ministry general-lieutenant Nurlan Dzhulamanov. Head of the Regional Command South major general Talgat Koibakov is also at the emergency site. He supervises the works performed by the militarymen. The Ministry also added that tow cars saved over 40 cars at Kuyuk crossing out of the snow wreathes. Mountain troops joined the works last night: over 200 contracted militarymen left for the disaster-hit region. The restoration works are in process. The blackout in Talas and Saryssu region, as well as in Zhanatas town of Zhambyl oblast was caused by bad weather on January 12. The blackout than caused suspension of the central boiler house of Karatau at 07:15 a.m. Its 60m-long concrete chimney collapsed at 08:15 a.m. into the area of the 5th (reserve) and 6th (main) water-heating boilers.
