Tengrinews.kz - A court in the capital is hearing a case against a woman who allegedly offered 100 million tenge to help reduce the sentence of Kuandyk Bishimbayev, who was convicted of murdering Saltanat Nukenova.
In June of this year, Lyudmila Gracheva, an Astana resident, was suspected of embezzling 100 million tenge under the pretext of softening the sentence of former Minister of National Economy Kuandyk Bishimbayev. Later, the ex-minister’s lawyers shared details of the story, stating that the suspect was apprehended while attempting to receive a fake bundle of money.
Later, the Anti-Corruption Agency launched an investigation into the woman following a complaint from Bishimbayev's relatives. In August of this year, the investigation into the case against her was concluded.
On October 17, the court in Astana began the proceedings.
It is important to note that Lyudmila Gracheva is accused of committing crimes under Article 190, Part 4, Clause 2 of the Criminal Code of Kazakhstan for "Fraud in a particularly large amount," with the application of Article 24, Part 3 for "Preparation for a crime and attempt at a crime;" and Article 367, Part 4 for "Bribery in a particularly large amount" with the application of Article 28, Part 4 for "Instigation."
The brother of the late Saltanat Nukenova has asked the court to demand Kuandyk Bishimbayev pay 1.5 billion tenge for moral damages and 8.8 million tenge for property damage.
Kuandyk Bishimbayev's ex-wife, Nazym Kakharman, filed a lawsuit to have him stripped of his parental rights.
