Tengrinews.kz - A troop of wild monkeys saved a six-year-old girl from rape by attacking her assailant in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The remarkable story was shared by the child's parents, citing the Independent.

According to the girl's father, she was playing outside when a stranger approached her. After talking to her about something, he led her to an abandoned building where he intended to assault her. At that moment, a troop of wild monkeys entered the building and pounced on the man, forcing him to flee.

The girl immediately ran home and told her parents what had happened. She mentioned that the stranger had threatened to kill her father if she told anyone about the incident.

"My daughter would have been dead by now if monkeys had not intervened," the father said in an interview.

It was noted that despite surveillance footage capturing the assailant leading the child down a narrow street, he has yet to be apprehended.

In many parts of India, monkeys live side by side with humans due to the loss of their natural habitat. Some Indians revere and feed these animals, considering them connected to the demigod Hanuman, who takes the form of a monkey.
