Tengrinews.kz - President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev commented on the attack on a Kazakh journalist that occurred in Kyiv.
President Tokayev said that Kazakh authorities are ready to assist in the investigation.
"You know my principled position: Law and Order must prevail in our country, in other words, the rule of law. All conflicts and disagreements in our society should be resolved exclusively within the legal framework, based on current legislation and in accordance with fundamental international norms. It is from this perspective that the crime that took place yesterday in Kyiv against a citizen of Kazakhstan, Aidos Sadykov, should be viewed.
I have instructed our diplomatic and law enforcement agencies to send official requests to the Ukrainian authorities regarding this serious incident. If necessary, Kazakhstan's official authorities are ready to participate in the investigation to help uncover the truth," he said.
On June 18, media reported that an attempted assassination on Aidos Sadykov took place in Kyiv. According to the Ukrainian National Police, an unknown person approached a parked car on Yarmola street where a man and his wife were inside, and shot the man before fleeing. The woman was unharmed.
The injured man was hospitalized. The Kyiv police have initiated criminal proceedings for attempted murder.
