Tengrinews.kz - The court has reviewed the case of an organized criminal group of pickpockets operating on public transport in Almaty.

The group, consisting of 12 individuals, was involved in stealing money and valuable items from Almaty residents.

"Under the coordination of the prosecutor's office, a pre-trial investigation has been conducted, which established that the leader and 11 members of the organized crime group were active on public transport since November of last year, stealing citizens' valuables," reported the Almaty prosecutor's office.

According to the investigation, the criminals' daily earnings amounted to around 1 million tenge.

The court sentenced 9 of the thieves to long prison terms. Two others are currently wanted, and a separate investigation is underway concerning them.
