Tengrinews.kz – Law enforcement officers have uncovered a major scheme involving the theft of diesel fuel from the railway in Karagandy Region – 17 people have been detained, and weapons, ammunition, and drugs have been seized.

According to the press service of the regional police department, the group operated at the Ashysu station in the Bukhar-Zhyrau district. During the investigation, 28 theft episodes were documented.

The department reported that the special operation was carried out by the Organized Crime Control Unit (OCCD) in cooperation with the Department of the National Security Committee (NSC) for Karagandy Region and the Railway Police Department at Karaganda-Sortirovochnaya station, with the support of the Karagandy Transport Prosecutor’s Office.

"Seventeen individuals involved in illegal activities were detained. Fourteen searches were conducted, during which approximately half a ton of diesel fuel, empty fuel containers, an unregistered firearm (reported lost in 2017 by the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs), 26 rounds of ammunition, seven mobile phones, and narcotics were seized," stated the press service of the Karagandy Region Police Department.

A criminal case has been opened, and investigative actions are ongoing.
