Tengrinews.kz – The National Security Committee (NSC) together with the Interior Ministry carried out a large-scale special operation in Kazakhstan; 20 people have been detained.
It was reported that on 4 February, the NSC together with the Interior Ministry, under the coordination of the Prosecutor General’s Office, conducted a special operation to suppress the activities of several criminal groups involved in the sale and storage of weapons, extortion, laundering of stolen vehicles, and other crimes.
“The measures were carried out simultaneously in the cities of Almaty and Shymkent, as well as in Aktobe, Almaty, East Kazakhstan, Zhambyl, Abay and Zhetisu regions. Twenty individuals have been detained, 10 of whom were placed in temporary detention facilities,” the statement said.
During searches, firearms, ammunition, narcotic substances, large sums of money, and other physical evidence were seized from the suspects.
Pre-trial investigations are under way. Other information is not subject to disclosure in accordance with Article 201 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
