Tengrinews.kz - A married couple in Almaty has been arrested for operating a drug lab in their apartment.
Authorities revealed that the couple was producing and packaging synthetic drugs for retail distribution in their apartment located in the Alatau district. The special operation to apprehend the drug dealers was carried out as part of the "Karasora" operation, with support from the Almaty National Security Committee.
"The suspects were detained near their home. They were found with crystallized white substances, a glass tray with white residue, and cash. A search of their home uncovered laboratory equipment, glass containers for storing precursors, a magnetic stirrer, electric pumps, glass flasks, laptops, 265,000 tenge, a green plant-like substance with a specific odor, and other tools," stated Murat Jumabaev, head of the Almaty Drug Crime Counteraction Department.
According to a forensic chemical examination, the seized substance was identified as mephedrone. The suspects have been placed in a detention center. Further details are being withheld in accordance with Article 201 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Kazakhstan to protect the interests of the investigation.
