The last of the 15 border guards of Arkankergen frontier post in Almaty oblast has been found alive, Interfax-Kazakhstan reports citing a source in Almaty oblast administration. “He came to the post yesterday. He had a gun. Apparently, his mind is disturbed, he is stuporous,” the speaker said. The regular soldier got to the burnt post when the investigation group was working there. According to the militaryman, he was hiding in a nearby cave. Last week the frontier group of Sary Bokter Post of Usharal Frontier Troops of Shygys Regional Frontier Service Department discovered that the burnt barracks of Argkankergen frontier post where 15 frontier officers normally serve. The corpses of 14 militarymen were found at or near the accident site. Besides, the body of the gamekeeper of a nearby hunting farm was found next to the post. The criminal case was initiated over the accident. Nursultan Nazarbayev announced June 5 a one-day nation-wide mourning over murdered border guards.
