Tengrinews.kz – A large shipment of vapes was seized at the Kazakhstan–Russia border, according to the Agency for Financial Monitoring.
The violation was detected at the "Zhaisan-Automobile" checkpoint in the Aktobe Region, where two trucks coming from Russia were stopped.
The vehicles contained:
- 13,000 electronic nicotine delivery systems (vapes);
- 2,000 units of vape liquid;
- 14,000 smokeless tobacco products.
The court found two individuals guilty of attempting to smuggle the products illegally. Each was sentenced to six months in prison. The vehicles used for transporting the cargo were confiscated, with a total estimated value of 26 million tenge.
It is noted that the court's decision has not yet entered into legal force.
