Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the U.S. Yerlan Idrissov has tagged unjust the U.S. court ruling on American police officer who shot 11 rounds into unarmed Kirill Denyakin, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the diplomat's website. Idrissov said that Kazakhstan is very concerned about the recent ruling of the American court that suspended investigation of Denyakin's case. "They say that police officer Stephen D. Rankin is not guilty. According to the facts in the case, Rankin shot unarmed Denyakin several times at a close distance. Along with Kazakhstan party, I consider the officer's actions excessive and the ruling unjust," the diplomat said. "I think that more than enough evidence was presented to convict Rankin. In this relation Kazakhstan has requested an additional investigation. I am sure that by bringing the police officer to responsibility, the U.S. will show the whole world the power of their judicial system and the country's adherence to human rights," Idrissov said. 26-year-old Karaganda citizen Kirill Denyakin was shot by policeman Stephen D. Rankin in Portsmouth on April 23. Denyakin was unarmed, but the police officer made 11 shots killing him on the spot. Before the tragedy Denyakin had been working as a Portsmouth hotel cook for 2 years and had no criminal record. Denyakin's family filed a claim for $22 million against Portsmouth police, but U.S. civil court excluded them from any compensation. In February the Supreme Court dismissed all charges against the police officer.
