Tengrinews.kz - An elderly woman was killed on her birthday in the North Kazakhstan region.
The tragedy occurred in the Taiynsha district. The regional police department confirmed the information.
"On suspicion of murder of an 82-year-old woman, police detained a 59-year-old man. He is placed in a temporary detention center, a pre-trial investigation is underway and expert examinations have been appointed," the police said.
The deceased woman worked as a teacher of Russian language and literature for a long time and then retired. The school kept in touch with her, helped her with household chores and bought medicines. Former colleagues organized the funeral. The only son of the deceased is suspected of murder.
According to villagers, this is not the first time when a man allegedly raised his hand against his elderly mother. Previously, she applied to the police, but then withdrew the application because she felt sorry for her son. It ended with warnings and the man being arrested for a few days.
The suspect faces between 8 and 15 years in prison.
