Tengrinews.kz - Georgia extradited a fraud suspect to Kazakhstan.

Employees of the Prosecutor General's Office and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, with the assistance of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Georgia, extradited a citizen of Kazakhstan from Tbilisi to face criminal liability for committing repeated fraud.

"In 2020, the said person, in a group of persons, by prior agreement, under the pretext of assisting in obtaining subsidies, seized the funds of 88 residents of the Ulytau region, causing them damage in total amounting to more than 30 million tenge.

Two accomplices have already been sentenced to various types of punishment, and the suspect fled after committing the crime, and was therefore put on the international wanted list," the Prosecutor General's Office said in a statement.

According to official data, in 2024 he was identified on the territory of Georgia and, at the request of the Prosecutor General's Office of Kazakhstan, was extradited to his homeland. The suspect is currently in the Aktau pretrial detention center.

"The crime in question is punishable by imprisonment for a term of three to seven years with confiscation of property. The Prosecutor General's Office calls on citizens to be vigilant and careful so as not to become victims of fraudsters. Protect yourself and your loved ones from financial losses, act wisely," the Prosecutor General's Office said in a statement.
