Gazelle Trophy, marathon cycling race, will be held in Almaty mountains on May Days, Tengrinews.kz reports, referring to Velo Almaty initiative group website. According to the organizers of the event, the race will be held on April 29-30 and May 1. It is a 250-kilometer long route that runs through Sogetinsk and Zhalanash valleys and foothills (the East part of Zailiyskiy Alatau). It became known that both young mountain bike fans and professionals from Kazakhstan, Russia and Kyrgyzstan will take part in this marathon race that will be held for the fifth time. “Almost half of the participants are tourists from other countries. This is a record number for the race. This is an amateur race. However it requires a serious level of physical fitness and technical skills, marathon participation experience, land and long-distance races navigation”, organizers said.
