Tengrinews.kz – Law enforcement officers in Taldykorgan have arrested a citizen of Uzbekistan who was on the interstate wanted list, according to the press service of the Police Department of the Zhetysu region.
The 20-year-old man had been wanted in Uzbekistan on charges of theft through embezzlement or misappropriation. On December 29, 2023, he was placed on the wanted list by the Main Department of Internal Affairs of the Tashkent region.
Upon learning that he was wanted, the suspect fled Uzbekistan and traveled to Kazakhstan, where he initially hid in Shymkent, working as a baker. Shortly thereafter, in 2024, he moved to Taldykorgan and took up a job as a cook’s assistant.
According to police, the fugitive was detained in Taldykorgan and taken into custody. Authorities are currently working with relevant state bodies to arrange his extradition to Uzbekistan, where he will face trial.
