Tengrinews.kz - Police in the Zhambyl region, in cooperation with the regional prosecutor's office, stopped the criminal activities of a six-member drug trafficking group following a lengthy operational investigation, according to the regional police department.
The suspects organized channels for the supply of hashish from the Shu district of Zhambyl region to the city of Almaty and Almaty region.
Arrests and search operations were simultaneously conducted in the city of Almaty, Almaty region, and the Shu district of Zhambyl region. All six suspects have been placed in temporary detention.
"During the search, more than five kilograms of hashish and about one kilogram of marijuana were seized," the Zhambyl region police department said in a statement.
According to the police, a pre-trial investigation has been initiated on charges of possession and transportation of drugs with the intent to distribute, committed by a group of individuals in collusion. Investigative actions are ongoing.
