Azerbaijan workers got involved in a massive fight with local citizens in Kyzylorda, in southern KazakhstanTengrinews.kz reports. The incident happened on August 18, 2013. Fist a conflict of 5 people happened in the canteen of AzerKorpu on August 16. The incident was reported to Kyzylorda Interior Department. The police investigated it and found that two Kyzylorda residents (Kazakhstan citizens born in 1986 and 1990) had an argument with three citizens of Azerbaijan. The incident was followed by a massive fight on August 18 in front of AzerKorpu building. The fight involved 15 people. The fighters were armed with sticks, iron rods and rocks that they used to shatter windows of the canteen and two KamAZ trucks parked nearby. The hooligans also beat up two Azerbaijan citizens who happened to be exiting the building when the crowd was rampaging. The two Azerbaijani nations were slightly injured in the fight near the canteen, but received no severe injuries and have already returned to work. According to the head of the press-service of Kyzylorda Interior Department Kaldybek Abdullayev, criminal cases for hooliganism were initiated over both these incidents. The investigators are considering different versions, but hooliganism is believed to be behind both fights where the Azerbaijan citizens working in Kazakhstan were involved. In case the suspects’ fault is proven, they will face from 2 to 6 years in jail.
