An attempt of oil theft has been eradicated in Kyzylorda oblast recently, Tengrinews.kz reports, referring to Nurdilda Oraz, an official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. A group of persons suspected of grand oil theft was arrested in Kyzylorda in the beginning of this month. “The group of eight men aged between 27 and 56 was detained over an oil theft attempt by private security agency employees at the 580th kilometer of Kenkiyak-Kumkol field’s pipeline. The criminals had six KamAZ oil-trucks, one of them filled with oil, with them at the site,” Nurdilda Oraz said. Investigation is underway to identify other persons involved in the crime. The 761-kilometer-long pipeline runs across Aktyubinsk, Kyzylorda and Karaganda oblasts, It is part of the second stage of Kazakhstan-China pipeline construction. 95 cases of oil theft were registered in Kazakhstan last year. The financial damage they caused amounted to 27 million tenge ($182 430).
