An American tried to smuggle radioactive sources out of Almaty

A foreign citizen tried to illegally bring five calibration radioactive sources out of Almaty, Tengrinews.kz reports citing press-service of Almaty Customs Control Department.The citizen of the United States, born in 1957, was apprehended in Almaty airport on February 29. He was heading to Tashkent. He had no documents permitting export of the non-declared radioactive materials.The Department is holding a pre-investigation check under Smuggling of objects withdrawn from use or objects with limited use.
