Aktobe Court No.2 gave a 30-year-old Islam adept of Jihad ideas who decided to help Talibs in Afghanistan with a 2.5-year prison term, KazTAG reports. The trial was closed for public. According to the letter of accusation, the man turned to Islam in 2002. In 2010, after watching videos propagating terrorism on the Internet, he decided to go to Afghanistan, where he planned to join the Taliban. He found two supporters and worked out a route to Afghanistan. Three of them left for Kyrgyzstan in February 2011. Two of them decided to go back home. The accused man continued on his way alone and reached Tajikistan, where he started learning the maps of near-border villages, but couldn't find an unobstructed route to Afghanistan. Then he went back to Aktobe and turned himself in to the police. The accused asked the judge for a sentence that does not involve jail, as he repented and did not make any mistakes yet. Public prosecutor asked for a 5-year jail term for the man. The court sentenced him to 2.5 years in general security penal colony.
