Tengrinews.kz — The country’s first verdict against the organizer and members of a transnational organized group that facilitated the organization of prostitution through the online resource Kyzdar.net has been handed down in Petropavlovsk.

North Kazakhstan police shared details of how the high-profile case involving the website was investigated. In recent years, investigators from the regional Police Department have sent five criminal cases related to pimping and the activities of the banned web resource to court.

“Analysis of the materials in these criminal cases made it possible to establish the operating scheme of the criminal network and move to the next level of the criminal organization,” Alibek Kuzhakhmetov, First Deputy Head of the North Kazakhstan region Police Department, told Tengrinews.kz.

The criminal case was registered in May 2025. An interdepartmental investigative and operational group included officers from the North Kazakhstan region Police Department and the Financial Monitoring Agency. The work was coordinated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the General Prosecutor’s Office.

As Alibek Kuzhakhmetov emphasized, the investigation was unprecedented in nature. Law enforcement officers had to examine digital traces, track transactions involving cryptocurrency and study international server infrastructure.

“In July last year, six suspects were detained during a special operation in Astana and other cities. According to the investigation, they ensured the operation of advertisements for persons engaged in prostitution across the country, administered the resource and carried out cryptocurrency transactions in the interests of the website’s organizers,” the First Deputy Head of the North Kazakhstan region Police Department explained.

The investigation lasted eight months.

The regional prosecutor’s office clarified that in March this year, prosecutors charged six members of a transnational organized group that facilitated the promotion and advertising of intimate services on the banned website Kyzdar.net.

“The group’s illegal activity was based on promoting profiles of persons providing intimate services for monetary compensation at established rates,” the North Kazakhstan region prosecutor’s office said.

In June this year, the specialized interdistrict criminal court of North Kazakhstan region handed down a verdict against six main members of the organized criminal group.

The defendants — four women and two men — were found guilty of criminal offenses under Article 264, Part 1, “Creation and leadership of a transnational organized group or transnational criminal organization, as well as participation in them,” and Article 309, Part 3, “Organization or maintenance of dens for prostitution, provision of other sexual services and pimping committed by a criminal group,” of the Criminal Code. One of the defendants was also convicted of illegal entrepreneurship and legalization of money and property obtained by criminal means.

The leader of the transnational organized group was sentenced to 10 years in prison, while five key managers were each sentenced to eight years in prison.

The verdict has not yet entered into legal force.

“Operational search measures in this criminal case are continuing. Another woman involved in the website’s activities has been detained in Georgia, and her extradition to Kazakhstan is now being prepared. Operatives, investigators and forensic specialists continue working to identify all participants in the criminal scheme,” the press service of the North Kazakhstan region Police Department concluded.

As a reminder, in June this year, officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs detained the organizers and beneficiaries of the server infrastructure of the Kyzdar.net online resource. According to official data, the website contained about 9,000 profiles offering intimate services, more than 500 of which were profiles of persons of non-traditional sexual orientation and transvestites. The investigation established that the defendants are founders of one of the IT companies.

According to the investigation, the website’s revenue may have exceeded 500 million tenge per month, with some transactions carried out through cryptocurrency.

During searches, officers seized:

  • 144 million tenge in cash;
  • more than $1.3 million;
  • over $300,000 in cryptocurrency;
  • weapons with ammunition;
  • about 150 units of computer and other equipment, vehicles;
  • documents and other evidence in the case.

Earlier, we reported that despite the detention of the organizers of the scandalous Kyzdar.net website, some “mirror” versions of the resource continue to appear, although the main domain has been blocked.

Note: A website “mirror” is an exact copy of the main resource hosted on other servers. Such copies allow users to bypass blocks, although access to them is often restricted or requires the use of a VPN.
