Former head of BTA Bank Mukhtar Ablyazov sentenced to 22 months in jail for contempt of court by the High Court is most probably in Switzerland, Inopressa writes citing French media. Ablyazov was sentenced to prison last February. He fled England having found out about the court’s intention to jail him. Addleshaw Goddard law firm representing the interests of former Kazakhstan banker was allowed to keep its client’s whereabouts secret. BTA Bank’s lawyers suggest that Ablyazov fled to France. According to them, Ablyazov left Great Britain at about the same time when the court ordered his arrest. "It is likely that he left by coach and that he used the passport that he had failed to deliver up on court order. It is not known whether he remains in France," BTA Bank's barrister said.
