Tengrinews.kz — The National Security Committee of Kazakhstan has uncovered a scheme involving the fictitious production of medical devices in Kazakhstan.
According to the KNB’s anti-corruption service, the management of OrdaMed JSC, using forged documents claiming the existence of their own production facilities in Kazakhstan, illegally obtained preferential treatment for the subsidized supply of 28 types of medical equipment to state healthcare institutions. The equipment was described as essential for ensuring public health and well-being.
“In reality, the finished medical equipment was supplied from abroad. As a result, the state suffered damage amounting to 4.5 billion tenge. During searches, investment coins worth more than 1 billion tenge were seized from the management of OrdaMed JSC, and ownership stakes in the companies Interdentica, Erkin Brand, and OrdaMed were placed under arrest,” the KNB reported.
With court authorization, the technical director of OrdaMed JSC, the former chair of the management board, and the head of the production department have been taken into custody. Pre-trial investigations are ongoing.
