300 crimes detected by video cameras in Astana

Since the beginning of the year, about 300 crimes have been detected and solved thanks to video surveillance cameras in Astana, Tengrinews reports citing the Department of the Interior Affairs (DIA) of the capital. “According to the Operations Control Center, 280 criminal cases (robberies, carjacking, theft, vandalism, etc) and 26,850 administrative violations have been detected and solved thanks to video surveillance in Astana since the beginning of the year,” said the press release. According to the DIA, 694 video cameras have been installed and are working at intersections, in courtyards of apartment buildings and in public places in Astana. A pilot project of Safe Courtyard program has been sucessfully implemented and will continue in the neighborhoods of Astana. This program helps local policemen to ensure safety of their neighborhoods.
