Pan-European telecom operator Tele2 enteres Kazakhstan

On Sunday, April 24, Pan-European telecom operator Tele2 started providing telecom services in Kazakhstan under its own brandname, Novosti Kazakhstan reports. First subscribers have signed up in Aktyubinsk. Earliaer the Company announced that in the Q2 2011 it would launch the service in Astana, Almaty, Kokshetau, Taldykorgan, Uralks, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Pavlodar, Karaganda and some others. In 2011 the Company intends to invest $ 185-217 million in the technical development. The Company plans to operate as a discounter. March 18, 2010 Tele2 purcahsed a majority stake in Mobile Telecom – Service. GSM mobile communications service in Kazkahstan is provided GSM Kazakhstan/Kcell (part of TeliaSonera, with 49% owned by KazakhTelecom) and Kar-Tel (controlled by Russia’s Vympelcom).
