Former head of KazMunaiGas-Processing and Marketing Zhanat Tussupbekov was appointed Director General of Rompetrol Group, Tengrinews.kz reports citing public relations department of KazMunaiGas National Company. Rompetrol’s previous Director General Saduokhas Meraliyev will continue working in the company as its board member. “This reshuffling is natural continuation of the last and important stage of development of Rompetrol Group, that included implementation and finalization of the program of modernization and increase of capacities of Petromidia refinery to 5 million tons. Consolidation and optimization of the processes, as well as integration of Rompetrol into KazMunaiGas (KMG) group of companies, have been completed,” President of KazMunaiGas National Company Lyazzat Kiinov said at the meeting of the company’s top management. He also added that all the required prerequisites to continue the plan of expansion of KMG activities in the Black Sea region and in Western Europe had been created. Several other appointments were made in the company: Timur Azimov was appointed Vice-President for Trading and Azamat Zhangulov was appointed deputy Director General for Finance. The Rompetrol Group N.V. is a multinational oil company headquartered in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, operating in 12 countries, and with the majority of its assets and operations based in France, Romania, Spain, and South-East Europe. The group is active primarily in refining, marketing and trading, with additional operations in exploration and production, and other oil industry services such as drilling, EPCM, and transportation. Rompetrol is 75% owned by Kazakhstan’s national company KazMunaiGas since August 2007 when it purchased the shares from the previous owner Dinu Patriciu for around US$ 2.7 billion.
