Erik Balapanov has been elected a new chairman of BTA Bank, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the bank’s press-service. The decision on Balapanov’s appointment was made at the first meeting of the bank’s new board with participation of the creditors’ representatives. “The experience of Mr. Balapanov in the banking sector is important for our financial institute. Shareholders and the board are connecting this appointment with successful restructuring of the bank’s debt, stabilization of its work, getting it back to into the black and regaining the positions at the financial market,” chairman of the board Anvar Saidenov said. “For me this work is of great significance and responsibility. I will use my experience and knowledge to achieve the goals set by the shareholders,” Balapanov said. Acting chairman of the bank Askhat Beissenbayev was appointed first deputy chairman. The board also elected three managing directors: Dzhanna Akhmetzhanova (risk management), Natalya Loginova (financial sector) and Kunsulu Kapbassova (retail business). First deputy chairman Nikolay Varenko resigned.
