KazAtomProm and Purolite to produce chemicals

KazAtomProm National Atomic Company and a British company Purolite International AG have signed a memorandum of understanding and cooperation in technologies and innovations, KazTAG reports citing the national atomic company's message. The memorandum was signed in Astana on April 6 during the 2nd mining forum MINEX Central Asia 2011 by KazAtomProm deputy chairman Nurlan Ryspanov and the president of Purolite Stefan Brodie. “Implementation of the joint innovation projects will allow KazAtomProm and its English partner to start a large-scale production of high-tech chemicals in Kazakhstan,” the message states. As per the signed document, the partnership will cover many aspects of KazAtomProm activities, including technological research and tests in the area of hydrometallurgy of rare and precious metals, development and testing of new sorbents for the use in hydrometallurgy, industrial water treatment and conditioning. KazAtomProm is Kazakhstan's major exporter of uranium and its compounds, rare metals, nuclear fuel for nuclear power stations, special equipment, technologies and dual-usage materials. Purolite is a world class expert in ion exchange resins, catalyst agents and adsorbents.
