Kazakhstan Temir Zholy to produce 100 locomotives annually

Kazakhstan Temir Zholy plans to produce 100 locomotives per year by 2014, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the company’s president Askar Mamin. “Locomotive production is one of the projects. This year we will manufacture 92 locomotives. They are of a high demand not only in our country but in other markets as well. We currently have over 150 memorandums for procurement of our goods. We plan to produce 100 locomotives per year by 2014. This will be the maximum capacity of our production facilities,” Mamin said at the meeting on the investment activities of Samruk-Kazynation National Welfare Fund. According to the company’s president, production of electric locomotives was launched last year and initially the plan was to take the capacity to 150 wagons. By Baubek Konyrov
