Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (national railroad company) and Toyota Tsusho Corporation (a subsidiary of Toyota Motor Corporation) signed a memorandum of cooperation and interaction, Tengrinews.kz reports citing press-service of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy. The parties discussed participation of Toyota in a special economic zone Khorgos – Eastern Gates to increase the cargoes flow from Japan, South Korea, China and other countries to Europe, CIS and Central Asian region and back via Kazakhstan. The companies also agreed on the terms of commodities transportation at the territory of Kazakhstan. Besides, the agreement was made on interaction in implementation of projects on creation of an integrated logistics product in Kazakhstan and Japan. “The parties also agreed on creation of a permanent work group of competent experts for performance of the joint work and consultations on transport and logistics projects at the territory of Kazakhstan, as well as for taking actions to increase the flow of Japanese and Kazakhstan transit cargoes and improvement of the attractiveness of the routes with the use of multi-modal transport,” the press-service writes. The memorandum of cooperation was signed in Astana on the sidelines of the 5th Astana Economic Forum by president of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy Askar Mamin and head of Toyota Tsusho Corporation Jun Karube. Toyota is currently implementing a range of projects in Kazakhstan, including the project on creation of the China-Russia-Turkey-Central Asia logistics route. The company’s main activities include local wholesale, import, export, investment projects, insurance, etc.
