Kazakhstan President met with the chairman of Glencore International AG

Kazakhstan President met with the chairman of Glencore International AG Ivan Glasenberg at the sidelines of the Council of Foreign Investors on May 22, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the President’s press-service. The meeting covered prospects of development of mutual cooperation. Glencore is one of the world’s largest suppliers of the industrial and raw materials to motor, metallurgic, food and energy industries. The company holds stakes in major Kazakhstan companies like KazZinc, Altyntau Resources, Kazakhstan Grain Company and Ekibastuz Bogatyr Komir, Kazakhstan President’s press-service writes. The meeting of Kazakhstan President’s Council of Foreign Investors was held as part of the 5th Astana Economic Forum on May 22. Nursultan Nazarbayev called foreign oil and gas companies to develop Kazakhstan’s alternative economy in return for the right for production of natural resources. Chairman of Sberbank German Gref said at the meeting with Kazakhstan President Nazarbayev that Sberbank is mulling to become one of the key banks in Kazakhstan. By Assel Satayeva
