Railway stations in Kazakhstan will be overhauled by 2020, Tengrinews reports, citing the country’s Minister of Transport and Communications Askar Zhumagulov as saying. All 302 railway stations across Kazakhstan are to be overhauled. Plans are afoot to overhaul 11 out of 18 airports, with both airstrips and passenger terminals renovated in 5 of them and only passenger terminals renovated in 6 of them. Another 75 regular international flights are to be launched by 2020. The plan also seeks to develop water transport infrastructure capabilities. Notably, a project to expand capabilities of the sea port in Aktau is under way, with three dry cargo terminals to be constructed. Ultimately, the port’s capabilities will be brought up from the current 16.8 million tons a year to 20.5 million tons.
