Astana Prosecutor’s office discovered the facts of discrimination of Kazakhstan personnel in several companies in terms of the salaries compared to the foreign employees, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the authority’s press-service. “Comparing of the labor contracts of foreign employees and the Kazakhstan citizens employed in the companies revealed that the management of HAILEYBURYASTANA paid much higher salaries to the foreign employees than to their local colleagues with the same positions and scopes of work, which is a violation of Article 7 of Kazakhstan Labor Code that prohibits discrimination of labor rights by race, nationality, residency and age,” the message states. In particular, the wages of the teachers who were Kazakhstan citizens made 260 thousand tenge ($1,700), while the salaries of foreign employees at the equivalent positions were ten times higher. Similar violations were discovered in IFL Kazakhstan Engineering and Projects management, Solaks Hotel Business Management Company and FA-BO. “An administrative cases under Part 1 of Article 87 of Kazakhstan Administrative Violations Code were initiated against the above companies and officials,” the press-service writes.
