Eurocopter Kazakhstan Engineering plans to launch a maintenance center for EC145 helicopters in Mongolia, KazTAG reports, citing a statement made by Kaznex Invest National Agency for Exports and Investments. “On a visit to Ulan-Bator, the Company’s Commercial Director Karybai Ablezov signed a respective memorandum with the Mongolian side. The facility based in Mongolia will be maintaining EC145 helicopters and training flying and engineering crews”, the press release reads. Being the only EC145 producer in the CIS, Eurocopter Kazakhstan Engineering has the exclusive rights to supply helicopters to Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus and Azerbaijan. “We have the exclusive right to provide all the related services within these territories, expanding exports”, Mr. Ablezov commented. Eurocopter Kazakhstan Engineering is a JV of Eurocopter and Kazakhstan Engineering. The projected capacity of the facility is up to 12 helicopters a year. Localization of the production processes is to be brought up to 30% within 6 years. The agreement on establishing the JV was signed October 27, 2010 in France. Kazakhstan Engineering [fully owned by Samruk Kazyna Sovereign Wealth Fund] is a holding company comprising 25 defense industry facilities. Since April 2010 the Company has been managed by the Defense Ministry.
