Estonian company AS Vopak E.O.S. Ltd will buy 15 Kazakhstan-made TEZZA locomotives from Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ), Tengrinews.kz reports citing the company’s press-service. The contract for supply of the locomotives produced by Locomotive Kurystary Zauyty (LKZ) in Kazakhstan was signed in the KTZ office in Astana yesterday in the presence of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy President Askar Mamin, AS Vopak E.O.S. Ltd. Chairman Arnaut Lugtmeyer, Estonian Minister of Economic Affairs and Communications Juhan Parts and President of General Electric Transportation Lorenzo Simonelli. In his speech Juhan Parts stressed the importance of the bilateral cooperation and expressed hope for further enhancement of the connections and expansion of the interaction between the two countries. Mamin said that Estonia was an important partner for Kazakhstan in trade and economic relations and that signing that document was a bright example of the partnerships relationships. The talks between LKZ and AS Vopak E.O.S. Ltd., the biggest independent operator of Baltic terminals, started in 2010. In December 2011 the Kazakhstan company rented out TEZZA locomotive No.0080 for exploitation tests. The tests helped the Estonian company to make a decision to procure the Kazakhstan-made locomotives.
