KazMunaiGas calculates profits from oil dispatches via Romanian marine terminal

KazMunaiGas is calculating profits from oil dispatches via Romanian marine terminal, Tengrinews.kz reports citing press-service of the national company of Kazakhstan. "Having created a direct link between the terminal and refinery, we have optimized the oil supply process and significantly decreased technological losses and costs related to unloading of the materials. Maximum capacity of the terminal is 24 million tons per year and this volume can meet the needs of Romanian refineries," the press-service cited Director General of Midia marine terminal Ioan Taus. The message states that starting from 2009 the volume of oil dispatched via Midia marine terminal - that KazMunaiGas has invested $150 million into - has reached 10 million tons. All of this oil is process at Petromidia refinery. This is the first marine terminal built by the company at the Black Sea. According to the press-service of KMG, the Romanian terminal helps shorten the distance by almost 33 km (compared to the previous route via Constantza port. Thanks to that, the company is saving up to $5 on each ton of oil delivered to the refinery. Starting from 2001, the refineries of Rompetrol Group have processed 27 million tons of oil. The 2012 goal is to complete the program on increasing the processing capacities of the refineries to 5 million tons per year. Rompetrol Group has been part of KazMunaiGas Group since 2007. Rompetrol is 75% owned by Kazakhstan’s national company KazMunaiGas. It is an international oil company that operates in 12 countries, including Romania, France, Spain and South-East European countries. The main activities of the company include oil processing, marketing and trade, exploration and production.
