Zhauzhurek Myn Bala droped off Oscar Award list

Kazakhstan's Zhauzhurek Myn Bala (1000 Brave Boys) historical drama didn’t make it into the short-list of the Oscar Award in the Best Foreign Film category, the Academy’s website reports. Only 9 movies out of 71 got on the short-list of the award. They are Austria’s Amour, Canada’s War Witch, Chili’s No, Sweden’s A Royal Affair, France’s The Intouchables, Iceland’s The Deep, Norway’s Kon-Tiki, Romania’s Beyond the Hills, Switzerland’s Sister. Only five movies will get into the final list of the award and these movies will be announced on January 10, 2013. The festive awarding ceremony will be held in Los Angeles on February 24. Russia’s White tiger, directed by Karen Shakhnazarov’s, was nominated in the Best Foreign Film category as well. South Korea’s Pieta, directed by Kim Ki Duk, that won Venice International Film Festival was also included into the long-list of the award, but failed to get into the short-list. Zhauzhurek Myn Bala (1000 Brave Boys) movie was released in Kazakhstan on May 3, 2012. It earned almost 2 million during 2 week-ends and became the leader of the release. The movie was screened at the Film Market of 65th Cannes Festival on May 17.
