The annual festival of classic music Orchestra Parade is held in Almaty to celebrate the Almaty City Day. The premiere of Shakherezada danced by the troupe lead by the founder of the Imperial Russian Ballet Gediminas Taranda to the music of Otyrar Sazy Academic Folk-Ethnographic Orchestra of Kazakhstan was presented on the first day of the Orchestra Parade, Tengrinews.kz reports. Rimsky Korsakov wrote the symphonic ordre Shakherezada in 1888, impressed and inspired by Arab tales One Thousand and One Night. Shakherezada was performed and is still performed by lots of orchestras all over the world, but yesterday it was played on Kazakh national instruments (dombra, kobyz, zhetigen and sybyzgy) for the first time ever. Almaty audience was impressed with the performance and gave the dancers and musicians an onslaught of applauds. The unique show will later be presented in St. Petersburg and then in Moscow. Kazakhstan’s opera stars Dina Khamzina, Alfiya Karimova, Baurzhan Musin, Ansar band, Emil Savakov, Darkhan Zholdybayev and Zarina Kurmanbayeva performed famous songs about the southern capital of Kazakhstan (Almaty) accompanied with a slideshow of old and rare photographs of Almaty city on the first day of the festival. The second day of the classic music open air fest in Almaty -- on August 24 -- will make a detour away from traditional classic interpretations and include compositions from popular movies. The Symphonic Orchestra of Abai State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater will perform soundtracks from Harry Potter, Twilight, Godfather, Star Wars, Pretty Woman, Gladiator and Pirates of the Caribbean. The soundtracks to the movies were selected to attract a wider range of audience. “I want young people to start listening to orchestra music. Not many people know that Mozart’s music is played in the Twilight. When they will hear the famous melodies they will recognize them and learn the names of the composers and some of them will change their attitude to orchestra music,” the organizer of the event Marat Omarov said. The final day, August 25, will also be dedicated to soundtracks, but those from famous cartoons. The State Wind Orchestra led by Kanat Akhmetov and Aleksander Belyakov will perform compositions from Aladdin, Lion King, Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Mulan,Nu, Pogodi and The Town Musicians of Bremen cartoons.
