American Heist movie directed by Russian Sarik Andreasyan has entered the main competition program of the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival in Toronto, Canada. The 26-y.o. Kazakh composer's name is Alim Zairov. His music is playing throughout the whole film, Tengrinews reports.

Alim Zairov created the music to the movie in the collaboration with Ukrainian musician Roman Vishnevsky. The two co-authored a debut album not long ago. This was  the young composer's first experience in the big film industry. Before that he only worked with movies made by students.

"When I released my debut album, I understood that I had to move forward. I came across this film when it was in at post-production. I learned that the Russian team was working on the movie and contacted them. At first the talks with the director were not very successful, but eventually the fate brought me to the music producer Artashes Andreasyan. I showed him my music and he liked it. He offered to collaborate. Later, he contacted me and offered me to try and write several pieces for American Heist. After I heard the offer, I just sat there for a few minutes in silence, because I was very shocked, " Alim Zairov said.

The process took several months. "We worked on the movie based on the 'first impression' principle. We watched a scene and then immediately tried to capture our associations in the music, without going any deep searching. We worked for several days on some of the scene to achieve perfection, " he added.

The Festival in Toronto is one of the events generating Oscar buzz, as Oscar's selection committee looks at all the movies presented in the Canadian festival. The team working on American Heist hopes to get closer to the most prestigious award in the film industry through the festival.

American Heist is an independent American action film directed by Sarik Andreasyan, based on the 1959 The Great St. Louis Bank Robbery film directed by Charles Guggenheim and John Stix. The movie stars Hayden Christensen (Star Wars), Jordana Brewster (Fast & Furious), Adrien Brody (The Pianist, King Kong) and Akon. The filming began in June 2013 in New Orleans, Louisiana. The release date for Kazakhstan has not been set yet.

The 39th annual Toronto International Film Festival is scheduled to be held from 4 to 14 September 2014 in Toronto, Canada. Founded in 1976, the Festival is now one of the most prestigious events of its kind in the world.
